Kick off for St Win's at AFC Totton

St Winfrid’s Church is building for the future.

With a beautiful but poorly-built listed building to take into account, the congregation of St Winfrid’s have taken the brave decision to close their building for 2-3 years for total refurbishment, reopening in 2021 in a building which will by then be fit for purpose – for community and church use alike.

Where will the church “live” in the meantime? That’s the exciting part. In an innovative partnership with AFC Totton, the church will move to the Monarch Suite within the AFC Totton complex at Testwood Stadium, Salisbury Road, Totton, running church services alongside community activities already taking place there.

The last Sunday service at St Winfrid’s will be on 4th November when the congregation and guests will be marking St Win’s 80th birthday with a thanksgiving service at 11.00am. Especially if you have had a connection with the church over its 80 years, all are welcome to join the celebration and share in a special birthday cake after the service.

The first Sunday service at AFC Totton will be a grand opening welcome service on Advent Sunday, 2nd December.  Do come and join in and see what we are up to! What with regular Sunday worship, the Alpha course, a Christmas Carol event being planned in the stadium and a contemporary music event for teens and twenties, this church is going places.

Messy Church will continue monthly at St Winfrid’s for the time being, and Café Church will continue on the second Sunday of each month at 4.15pm at Thistledonicely, Water Lane, Totton. Ickle Village will stay as before. Full details of these and other events can be found on the our website as usual.
